ERP and finance in financial services this week
Week ending 19 October 2026 · 8 sources
ERP suites add payments, consolidation and AI to finance
SAP added embedded payments, consolidation features and more AI to its finance operations software, and NetSuite launched a free AI-first platform for startups 12. Spend and fraud tools also moved closer to AI assistants and APIs 34.
Which way the market is moving
- Large ERP vendors are pulling payment execution and group consolidation into the core finance suite 1.
- AI is now marketed as the starting point of finance platforms, not an add-on 21.
- Spend management tools are connecting to general AI assistants such as ChatGPT and Claude to run finance workflows 3.
- Fraud checks on documents and cheques are being sold as configurable, API-first services that plug into finance processes 4.
ERP suites absorb payments and consolidation
SAP added embedded payments, new consolidation capabilities and expanded AI to its finance operations software 1.
SAP announced embedded payments, new consolidation capabilities and expanded AI for its finance operations software 1. The release brings payment execution and group consolidation into the same suite that runs the ledger 1.
Oracle NetSuite introduced a free, AI-first financial platform for startups, presented as supporting a company from idea to IPO 2. Together the announcements show the largest ERP vendors extending their core products into adjacent finance functions and leading with AI 21. Both vendors made the announcements through their own channels this week 21.
What it means: Institutions running SAP or Oracle finance may be offered payments and consolidation features that overlap with existing treasury, payments or close tools. Overlap creates both a consolidation opportunity and a risk of duplicated controls.
Questions for vendors:
- Which payment rails and banks does the embedded payments capability support in our jurisdictions?
- How do the new consolidation features handle intercompany eliminations and audit trails?
- Which AI features are included in current licences and which carry extra cost?

Spend tools plug into general AI assistants
PEX launched PEX AI, which automates finance tasks, runs multi-step workflows and connects to AI assistants such as ChatGPT and Claude 3.
PEX, a corporate card and spend management platform, launched PEX AI 3. The capabilities automate everyday finance work and run multi-step workflows 3.
PEX AI also connects the PEX platform to AI assistants such as Claude and ChatGPT 3. This means card and spend data can be reached from a general assistant rather than only from the vendor's own screens 3. NetSuite's new startup platform is also described as AI-first, showing the same push across finance software 2.
What it means: Connecting spend data to external AI assistants widens the set of systems that touch card and payment data. Access controls, approval limits and logging need to hold when actions start in an assistant.
Questions for vendors:
- What actions can an AI assistant take on our behalf, and can we restrict them to read-only?
- How are approval limits and segregation of duties enforced for workflows started in an assistant?
- What data is shared with the assistant provider, and is it retained or used for training?

Document fraud detection sold as an API service
Veryfi made its Fraud Detection and Prevention Suite generally available, a configurable, API-first platform that detects fraudulent documents and checks 4.
Veryfi announced general availability of its Fraud Detection and Prevention Suite 4. The company describes the product as a configurable, API-first platform 4.
The suite detects fraudulent documents and checks 4. Veryfi positions itself as a provider of AI-powered document intelligence 4. Fraud screening of incoming documents is relevant to payables and invoice processing, where false or altered documents can lead to improper payments 4.
What it means: Invoice and payables teams can add document fraud screening without replacing their ERP, but need evidence of accuracy before relying on it. False positives slow payment runs and false negatives defeat the purpose.
Questions for vendors:
- What detection and false positive rates can you show on documents similar to ours?
- Can the fraud checks run inside our existing invoice capture and approval workflow?
- Where are submitted documents stored and for how long?

Oracle Fusion adds customers and integrations
Oracle reported finance deployments at Orange and Beca, and a supported PowerPlan adapter for Oracle Fusion Cloud ERP was announced 567.
Oracle said Orange has standardised its global finance and projects on Oracle 5. Oracle also reported that Beca transformed its finance operations with Oracle Fusion Applications 6.
Separately, a new enterprise adapter offers a supported integration between PowerPlan and Oracle Fusion Cloud ERP 7. Supported adapters reduce the need for custom integration work between specialist finance tools and the ERP 7. The customer stories were published by Oracle itself 56.
What it means: Vendor-supported adapters can lower integration risk compared with custom builds. Institutions on Fusion should check who owns support when an adapter breaks after an upgrade.
Questions for vendors:
- Who supports the adapter, and how quickly is it updated after each Fusion quarterly release?
- What data flows through the integration and in which direction?
- Can you provide reference customers in financial services using the same configuration?
